Legislative Issues!! AADE has garnered support for introduction of
H.R. 4218 Amendment to Social Security Act Title XVIII –
Medicare Coverage of Certified Diabetes Educator Services And Regulatory Restrictions Limit People with Diabetes from Receiving Needed Self-Management Skills: Enact H.R. 4218 to enhance access to care
AADE has created two one page forms:
One form describes issue background, Policy Justification, Why Diabetes Self-Management Training and a suggested solution.
The second is a FACT sheet regarding the bill.

It is so important that you become involved in passage of this bill. Grass Roots efforts pass bills!!
Second and most importantly. AADE will be working with CMS to make changes to the billing of DSMT from “G” codes to “CPT” codes. Relative Value Units do not apply to HCPCS codes as G0108 and G0109 but by changing these codes to CPT codes reimbursement could be increased.
It will take a lot of work but AADE is willing to do it.
